In this article I will provide you tips on how to make a successful online store.
In this world of competition, Success lies in providing the buyer a great customer service. We will first talk about a physical store. In a store, a customer comes in, walks through the store and finds out items which are of his/her use, picks up the item to watch it carefully. The color, the size, the dimensions, the weight, the price etc are the factors which he/she notices.
A good online store should have the ability to project all these details about an item online. It should upload a photo of the actual item. The photo should have high resolution and the customer should be able to magnify it. The online store should provide a brief description about the item. It should include minute details like color, make, weight, size. It should give a point by point comparison with other similar products in the market.
You must provide a clear pricing to the customer. No prices should be hidden. You must tell him the actual price, the discount, the shipping charge, the net worth etc.
You must tell the customer whether the item is in Stock or will be shipped on demand. Additionally, sale information of the item should be available in the website. The store should have an online customer service. The customer should be allowed to ask any question about the product and a quick reply should appear. This can be accomplished by providing a chatting facility in the Online Store. The Customer service links in the website should be large and clearly visible and be present on almost all the pages of the website.
The Customer feel good factor is of ultimate importance. You should provide an ‘About Us’ section. It should contain you Privacy Statement and your policies. Along with that it should contain your affiliation and proof of your Registration.
To make the customer feel better, provide previous customer testimonials in Testimonials section. If previous customers allow, Provide their contact number or address.
You may need a section like FAQs where o you can clarify potential doubts and questions. Customers may have Questions like your return-back policies, shipping prices, insurance charges, guarantee etc. You can answer them all in a FAQ format.
Never show the products which are sold. Do not show them photos of the products which are sold. It annoys the customer. You can instead put a section called ‘coming soon’ and in that section you can put the items which have been sold and will be available in store soon.
Do not forget to add new contents to your website regularly. This will give a good impression on the returning users. They will find it a happening place and your sale will increase. If you have a Date tag or current references tag, be sure you change them frequently so that you save yourself from giving a perception to others that nobody is visiting your site.
